My wife and I visited Villa Montana for three nights - Dec.21-24,2004. We travel the Caribbean extensively, and always check out new places to stay. After a 90-minute cab ride from the airport, we were greeted by several extremely nice staff and driven by golf cart to our one-bedroom oceanfront villa. The room was very nice with an adequate size bedroom and kitchen, sitting room (with a tv and couch). From the terrace, there were amazing views of the well-maintained grounds, the palm trees and the beach/ocean, which was only 30 yards away. The food and service at the restaurant overlooking the beach were top-notch. The two pools were excellent, and the fitness facility was more than fine to keep the pounds off. You can walk the beach both ways for miles. We wanted to try another restaurant off the resort grounds one night, and due to no taxis being available, one of the staff drove us and then picked us up when we called. That was truly beyond the call of duty. If you want to just get away, this is the place. Of course, there are telephones, television, etc. (and cell phones work in Puerto Rico), but it was very relaxing, and we would recommend this place to anyone. |

| We found Villa Montana on the internet and enjoyed it so much we've been back three times in two years. The beautifully landscaped, well-kept grounds enhance the natural tropical setting. Hammocks, lounge chairs and several lovely bamboo double cabanas are scattered tastefully along the beach. It is perfect for sun bathing, reading or watching the surf roll in.
Long walks, along the reasonably isolated beach are refreshingly peaceful. Two well-maintained swimming pools are just steps away for those who may prefer lounging in a pool. And the beach is somewhat rocky right at the water's edge, but there are several sandy access spots. Once in the water, it is warm and free of seaweed, as is the sandy beach. The attitude and responsiveness of the management and staff to every request was outstanding. We also enjoyed some quiet dinners at the Eclipse Restaurant and Bar. It was definitely gourmet dining; a stone's throw from the water, in an incredibly unique and beautiful outdoor tropical setting. The restaurant also served a buffet breakfast during the busy season, which was reasonably priced and very adequate. We usually ate breakfast in our Villa, but breakfast and lunch were served daily. The bar was always open and served numerous specialty tropical drinks, which could be taken to the beach. Although I came armed with various bug repellants, I found the bug population much less than other Caribbean islands because of the constant breeze. The Villas were clean, well kept and nicely decorated. The one- bedroom villas were functional. All had patios. The two-bedroom villa, which we called home, was just perfect. We flew into San Juan, about one hour 45 minutes away and rented a car. We preferred to have a car available as the resort was secluded. We found Villa Montana the perfect place to relax and rejuvenate. Enjoy the sun, swim, play tennis, get a message, exercise, eat, read a book. Do anything or do nothing! |

| We really enjoyed our stay here. The property was beautiful, the staff was friendly and helpful, and the room was very comfortable. We saw other people around, but it always seemed very quiet and peaceful. The restaurant was great. The portion sizes were totally inconsistent which drove me nuts, but my husband didn't care at all. The food was not cheap - standard resort prices. Our room came with a continental breakfast which was generous on most days. A couple of notes I hope will be helpful... Definitely rent a car. We didn't (they picked us up in San Juan) because we planned to just sit around and relax. Once I finished my book, I would have gone crazy if some other guests had not taken us out on a day trip. Aside from the horse stables, there were no other businesses or restaurants within walking distance. The beach was rocky, and during the winter the surf was pretty rough. You need to be a strong swimmer and the current was too strong for floating or snorkeling. We watched other guests rent kayaks and flounder in the rough surf and decided not to try it ourselves. They told me a 'swimmable' beach was a short walk away, but I walked for 20 minutes and never found it. With a car you could try out other, more protected, beaches. Both pools were well-maintained. The extra space you get in a villa is worth it. We never used our kitchen as we intended, but we loved having a separate living room. The pictures on the website were a two-bedroom villa. The one-bedroom villa was not so light and airy but still had plenty of space. There were dogs everywhere. They seemed harmless, but if youve got a problem with dogs this may not be the place for you. Don't forget to take bug repellant! All in all, this was a great place to just sit in a hammock, drink a pina colada, watch the waves roll in and forget about everything else. |

| This place is nice, in a great location, and offers beautiful images all around. It is a "must stay" when traveling to beautiful Puerto Rico. | |

| My husband and I had only seen the web site, but liked what we saw. The drive to the hotel was not quite two hours. The hotel, which was made up of private villas, was gorgeous. We had no idea it would be so beautiful. All the flowers and the birds made us feel like we were in a tropical paradise. Our villa was spacious and very well equipped, and the decor was elegant, but not stuffy. We felt very much at home. We had planned to do a lot of nothing, but found ourselves going snorkeling, taking long walks on the beach which went for miles - and it was deserted. We visited some great Indian caverns in Camoy, drove up into the mountains, ate at a typical restaurant and got lost; we met some wonderful people who actually led us (in their car) back to the main road. We spent most of our time at the hotel ...the swimming was great. One morning we went kayaking, and the view from the water towards the cliffs and the beach was breathtaking. One day we even tried the rock climbing. Our evenings were quiet...we were exhausted after all our activities. A delicious dinner at the hotel restaurant was just what we needed. I think we had the whole fresh red snapper three times during our stay. It was yummy! Every night the waiter would make sure "our" table was ready for us...we liked to be out on the deck with just the torches and the candles. The table was right on the beach - it was just fabulous. We only had one slight downside. Although we were flying from New York City, if we had known there was a direct flight from Newark to Aguadilla, we probably would have taken that one. I think the reservations person should have mentioned it. Still, my husband and I have made a reservation for next year...same villa, same table! |
