Our Caribbean beach front resort is 35 acres - acres that are a small, private village. Our villas and, even, our hotel rooms, they all have actual owners based in Puerto Rico who use their retreats, their villas regularly
.
That is one of the reasons that we all feel so comfortable here at our Caribbean beach resort - that we all know so many of each other.
And our guest are always, in all ways, as welcome into our private enclave.
Our owners stay with us.
Our management team lives here with us at our resort.
Our guests return to us.
We have only 48 villas and 25 hotel rooms that are actually part of those villas. No high rise here - just villas of one or two stories. Of the villas, many are held for the exclusive use of the owners. So we are a community.
Young People Able To Settle In
In the summer, when school's out, the small lanes that service the enclave prove to be a great skate boarding area as young guests visit each other across the gardens, attack the waves or hit the trails. No worries here - only comfort and exuberance.
To the rear of our Caribbean enclave resort , some 1000 feet from the beach, is a high limestone cliff that naturally forms the rear barrier to the resort.
In our palms down by the water, the afternoon light brings our green parrots home to roost. We are an enclave for them too.
What It Is Like Driving Into Our Caribbean Beach Front Hotel
To get to our Caribbean Resort from Agauadilla (17miles) or Isabela (12 miles) , we take a small, rural road that spills off the limestone cliffs through a ravine and comes up to our property across a small mangrove swamp area. It is a simple area with few houses. There is not much here. Really.
To our west, our land flows into 3 miles of protected tropical almond forest, bananas, sea grapes, riding trails, and empty beach - all of it rolling up to a limestone headland from you which you catch sight of whales, squint your eyes and see Spanish galleons, and earlier time,
Security For The Resort on the Caribbean
For our guests' security, we do gate off the area at night and there is security on duty. We are private.
Sound at Night and Our Caribbean Resort
At night there is little light that reaches us at our Caribbean beach resort from the nearer towns (12 and 17 miles distant).
The stars shine brightly, the waves ripple without competing sound coming over the water. Back in the gardens, however, the chirps, saws, and murmurs of our nocturnal animals, birds, and insects provide the chorus for the tropical night.
Architecture and beach are fine but for our guests to have moments of joy, encounters with our world here, to leave us fulfilled, it is the "us" in the resort that makes it happen.
We know that it is our smile
and our greeting, "Good Morning, Mrs Alva, how was the canyoneering trip yesterday?", that gives our Caribbean beach front resort more than just ocean, even if it is the Caribbean.
We know what goes on. We talk with each other.
Xiomara, Housekeeper of Cliffside hotel rooms:
Xiomara has been with us for just a year. She moved back to Puerto Rico from the States, Allentown, PA. Now she knows that her children will be well educated, well taken care of . She can walk to the resort. The rooms that she looks after are all of course sparkling. That's the easy part for her. It's the aura that she leaves behind as she half closes the draperies that close of the terraces to her rooms. That aura and that smile are what we do as a team.
Yes, she does get to look out from her hotel rooms through a fringe of palm trees to the ocean beyond - the Caribbean ocean that rolls in, but the work is not all views and smiles. There is elbow grease and concern.
Xiomara is taking care of our guests and our team at our Caribbean beachfront hotel - at our Villa Montaña.
Our villas and rooms, the whole enclave is not a corporate resort but a personal evocation of owners who live on site and who care passionately.
As you walk past a set
of encrusted, pitted limestone rocks that have found their way next to the small coconut next to the garden pool, you might also just chance to see the ancient wood hewn pestle and mortar, feet tall, deep bronze with age now playing host to a salamader on the hunt.
No corporate artwork in our villas, none to be found around the pool, in fact we just don't see impersonal design as part of Villa Montaña Beach Resort - on the Caribbean.
Is the Caribbean corporate? Is our sand? Is our sea glass?
Personal, individual - the particular.
Lush landscapting cared for by our decitaed garden team. Our gardens, our baby cocnuts are as vital to artistic sense experience here as any painting, any tile, any sculpture.
Art, artisanship, artifacts - all original and passionately collected for each villa, room, as surprises in the gardens, by the pools, stashed under a coconut palm, hidden in a flower bed - they surprise and delight.
